Last updated: 6 November 2026. First edition: who can open your profile, what each link shows, what happens to your files and AI, what SeedForge does on LinkedIn, and the two limits every founder should know.
Yes. A SeedForge profile is private by default and unlisted, each link shows only the sections you choose, and deck download is off by default. SeedForge never trains AI on your data. Its AI providers have one exception: the optional AI Session's avatar provider may train on what it receives. Anyone holding a link can open what it shows.
SeedForge privacy facts at a glance (6 November 2026)

Email to view: off by default, switched on per link.
AI training: SeedForge never trains AI on your data; the security page lists one exception for the AI Session avatar provider.
Storage: primary servers in the EU; encrypted while stored (AES-256) and while being sent (TLS 1.2 or later) (security page facts).
Staff access: a small number of SeedForge engineers, for support only.
Deletion: email privacy@seedforge.com.
Who can open a SeedForge profile?
A SeedForge profile opens for people who hold a link to it. The profile lives at a link of the form seedforge.com/s/ followed by a code, and a founder can create a separate link for each investor. Each link stands on its own: the founder chooses what it shows and can switch it off at any time. The help centre guide to sharing your profile shows the screens. A founder can also choose to make the profile visible to investors on SeedForge, as the SeedForge security page explains; that choice is the founder's, in their settings.
SeedForge also keeps profile links out of search results. SeedForge's robots.txt states that profile links (the /s/ pages) are served with the header X-Robots-Tag: noindex, noarchive, and the demo profile returned it when checked on 6 November 2026. Google's Search Central documentation defines the noindex rule plainly: "Do not show this page, media, or resource in search results." Microsoft's Bing announcement of September 2023 says content labelled NOARCHIVE is left out of Bing Chat answers (Bing Chat is now Copilot) and out of the training of Microsoft's generative AI foundation models. Search engines that follow these rules keep the profile out of their results, so the realistic way a profile travels is a link someone forwards.
What does each SeedForge link show, and what stays with the founder?
Each SeedForge link shows up to four sections that the founder switches on or off for that link alone: Fundraising, Pitch Recording (the recording of the optional AI Session), Documents and Team. Inside Documents the founder can choose file by file. The guide to controlling which investor sees which section walks through Link Privacy Settings, the panel where these switches live. Changes take effect right away, even for an investor who already holds the link.
What | Who sees it | What the founder controls |
|---|---|---|
Deck feedback and score | Only the founder | Stays on the founder's Feedback page |
The visitors log | Only the founder | Kept on Share your Profile |
View emails | Only the founder | Instant, Daily digest or Off |
Each section (Fundraising, Pitch Recording, Documents, Team) | Whoever holds a link that shows it | On or off, per link |
Deck download | Whoever holds a link with download on | Allow deck download, per link |
The visitor's email | The founder, when the link asks for one | Require email to view, per link |
Deck download on SeedForge is off by default. Investors read the deck inside the page, and they can save the file only on a link where the founder turned Allow deck download on.
The SeedForge visitors log is for the founder alone. Share your Profile, the page in the SeedForge app where links live, lists which link each visit came through, the visits, the last visit, the total time and how deep the visitor read. What you see when an investor opens your link explains every column.
What happens to your files and AI on SeedForge?
SeedForge reads the deck and documents a founder uploads to build the profile, as described in how SeedForge turns your pitch deck into a profile investors read. The SeedForge security page states the rules for that material, as of 6 November 2026:
We never train AI on your data. That is SeedForge's own promise.
AI providers. SeedForge's AI providers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI. Contracts and account settings stop them from training their models on your data, with one exception: the provider of the AI's on-screen face in the optional AI Session (the video avatar a founder can talk to) may train its own AI on what it receives. A founder can build a profile from the deck and documents without ever starting an AI Session.
Storage. The primary servers are in the EU, and the security page's data facts state the encryption: data is encrypted while stored (AES-256) and while being sent (TLS 1.2 or later).
People. A small number of SeedForge engineers can access your data, for support only, according to the help centre page on who can see your data.
Retention. The retention periods on the security page are these: account data is kept 12 months after you close your account, unless you ask for deletion sooner. Evaluation data that identifies you is kept 36 months from the evaluation, or as long as your account is open if that is longer. Payment records are kept 7 years, as tax and accounting rules require.
Removing something from SeedForge rarely needs a deleted account. A founder can remove one document, switch off one link, or pause outreach in the app, and the deletion guide covers each step. For a full deletion, email privacy@seedforge.com and ask SeedForge to delete your account and data.
What does SeedForge do with your LinkedIn account?
SeedForge's optional outreach sends messages from the founder's own LinkedIn account, two ways: to matched investors, and to founders those investors already backed, asking them for a warm intro to the investor. Once the account is connected, SeedForge contacts only the people the founder approved, sends only the messages the founder approved, and stops the messages the moment someone replies. It never posts or comments from the account. The full sequence is in the help centre: a profile view, one post like, a connection request, the approved messages, and the withdrawal of requests left unaccepted for 21 days, at a pace of at most 20 connection requests and 20 messages a day.
A founder can pause a campaign or disconnect the account at any time. Building and sharing a profile works without LinkedIn; SeedForge acts on LinkedIn only after the founder connects it.
The two limits of sharing a deck through SeedForge
SeedForge links have two practical limits to keep in mind.
A link works for whoever holds it. An investor can forward a link to a partner, and the partner sees whatever that link shows. One link per investor helps here: the visitors log shows which link a visit came from, and switching that one link off makes it stop opening while every other link keeps working.
Screens can be captured. Any page a person can read, they can photograph. Keep the most sensitive material, such as a detailed ownership table or a customer list, in a section shown only on the links of investors you are in serious talks with.
Why a SeedForge link is safer than an attachment
An attachment is a copy you can never update or take back. A SeedForge link points to one living profile built from your deck and documents: you decide per link what it shows, you can switch any one link off, and when you upload a new version of your deck, every link shows your latest profile.
A five-step check before you share your deck on SeedForge
Create one link per investor. Name it after the fund, so the visitors log reads like your pipeline.
Open Link Privacy Settings on each link. Switch on only the sections that investor needs at this stage.
Decide on download. Leave Allow deck download off unless the investor asks for the file.
Decide on the email. Turn on Require email to view when you want the visitor's address recorded on that link.
Preview, then send. Click Preview to see the page as the investor will, then copy the link.
You can run this check on your own deck after building a free profile at seedforge.com. If you are comparing ways to share a deck, pitch deck tracking tools for founders sets SeedForge beside the file trackers founders use most.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is SeedForge legit?
Yes. SeedForge is a fundraising data room for startups, run by David Rakusan, who spent seven years in venture capital. Its Terms, Privacy Policy, Security page and pricing are published on seedforge.com, and building and sharing a profile is free.
Is my SeedForge profile public?
No. A SeedForge profile is private by default and unlisted. It opens for people you send a link to, and for investors on SeedForge only if you choose to be visible to them. Profile links carry a noindex, noarchive header that keeps them out of search results.
Can investors download my pitch deck?
Only on a link where you turned on Allow deck download, which is off by default. Without it, investors read the deck inside the page.
Does SeedForge train AI on my deck?
No. SeedForge never trains AI on your data, and contracts and account settings stop its AI providers from training on it too. The one exception is the provider of the on-screen face in the optional AI Session, which may train its own AI on what it receives.
Can someone forward my SeedForge link?
Yes. Whoever holds a link sees what that link shows. Give each investor their own link, so you can see where a visit came from and switch that one link off if you need to.
Can I take a link back after sending it?
Yes. Switch the link off on Share your Profile and it stops opening; the investor sees a "link not found" message. Turn it back on and the same link works again.
Where is my data stored, and who at SeedForge can see it?
The primary servers are in the EU, and data is encrypted while stored (AES-256) and while being sent (TLS 1.2 or later). A small number of SeedForge engineers can access your data, for support only.
What does SeedForge do on my LinkedIn?
Only what you approve, and only if you connect LinkedIn for outreach. It contacts the people you approved with the messages you approved, and it never posts or comments from your account.
How do I delete my data?
Remove a document or switch off a link yourself in the app. For full deletion, email privacy@seedforge.com and ask SeedForge to delete your account and data.
